Hello Monday - Back To School

POSTED BY HANNAH

Around this time two years ago I was about to embark on a new adventure: college. A word that, for me, created a spectrum of feelings, from fear to excitement. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but along the way, I figured it out. As I look back on my college experience thus far, I can’t help but be reminded of some things that I wish I would have known at the time.

The night before I moved into college I was filled with so many emotions. Looking back, I wish I had known that for every feeling that I had about college, someone else felt the same way. To the soon-to-be college student -- it’s okay to be scared or worried. Likewise, it’s okay to be excited and hopeful!

I quickly acclimated to my new life and was enjoying everything that college had to offer. Luckily, someone told me to go to my classes and make a conscious effort to put my grades first; after all that is what college is actually about!

With everything that I was trying to balance, taking care of myself fell to the bottom of the list. I found myself falling into an unhealthy habit of eating junk food at all times of the day and night and not exercising regularly. Whatever your age, it is so important to prioritize your health, eat healthy, and exercise regularly. Exercising for thirty minutes a day can lead to weight loss, reduction of stress, and can improve your overall mood. Whether you are about to start college, retire, or you find yourself somewhere in between, make your health a priority!
